Jonathan Swanson is a music producer and pianist from Portland Oregon. Jonathan performs with his jazz trio around the Northwest. His music has been frequently featured on Portland’s local jazz radio station KMHD. Jonathan Swanson enjoys photographing wildlife in Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge. Oaks Bottom is a perfect habitat for Great Blue Herons. Jonathan says “I think they are getting used to seeing me and my camera. I was also able to photograph some young Bald Eagles. There are few bald eagles nesting in Portland near the Willamette River. I look forward to the return of the Ospreys later in Spring. I will be making these photos available for download and royalty free use exclusively for my Members.

The weather has been beautiful in Portland. It is expected to be that way for the next few days. Today I spend a few hours in Oaks Bottom and Willamette Park. The Mandarin duck is considered one of the top ten most colorful birds. I happened to come across one the other day in Happy Valley Oregon. Here are some of my photos from that session. I will be making more high resolution photos of this Mandarin Duck available to my members. The Mandarin duck is not native to Oregon.
